While on a recent teen trip to Philadelphia, Central Synagogue staff member Eve Morin and our teens encountered an unconscious person on the sidewalk. Acting quickly, the teens called 911, and Eve administered Narcan—a life-saving step made possible by her training at Central with Dr. John Avery, Director of Addiction Psychiatry at Weill Cornell. This section, found in chapter 19 of Leviticus, is at the heart of the Torah and contains some of the most moving commandments within our tradition.
