Susan K. Stern
Vice President
Susan K. Stern is a community activist and political advocate in New York and nationally. She was nominated by President Barack Obama to serve as Chair of the President’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. Her work focused on Human Trafficking.
She is a Commissioner and Immediate Past Chair of the New York State Commission on National and Community Service serving two governors. Stern is the immediate past Vice Chair of The Jewish Federations of North America and created the International Lion of Judah Conference. Susan was Chair of the Board of UJA Federation of New York. She serves on the Executive Committee of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. She is one of the founders of the Jewish Democratic Council of America and has served on the President’s Advisory Committee for Hebrew Union College, the Dean’s advisory for University of Michigan and as a trustee at Westchester Reform Temple.
Susan has been a member of Central for 9 years and has been involved in the Cantorial Search Committee and Nominating Committee. She is married to Jeffrey Stern. They have two sons, Michael (Janna) and Peter (Amanda), and four grandchildren.
