Susan K. Stern

Vice President


Susan K. Stern is a community activist and political advocate in New York and nationally. President Biden nominated her to the United States, Holocaust Memorial Museum Council, and prior to that she was nominated by President Barack Obama to serve as Chair of the President’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. Her work focused on Human Trafficking.

She is a past Chair of the New York State Commission on National and Community Service serving three governors. Stern is the past Vice Chair of The Jewish Federations of North America and created the International Lion of Judah Conference. Susan was Chair of the Board of UJA Federation of New York. She served on the Executive Committee of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. She is one of the founders of the Jewish Democratic Council of America and has served on the President’s Advisory Committee for Hebrew Union College, the Dean’s advisory for University of Michigan and as a trustee at Westchester Reform Temple.

Susan has been a member of Central for 9 years and serving as Development chair has been involved in the Cantorial Search Committee and Nominating Committee. She is married to Jeffrey Stern. They have two sons, Michael (Janna) and Peter (Amanda), and six grandchildren.
