Welcoming Jenna McMillan to our Clergy Team

January 28, 2022 | General News | Messages From Leadership

This email was sent to the congregation on January 28, 2022.

Dear Central Family,

We are so excited to announce that beginning July 1, 2022, Jenna McMillan, our talented and engaging cantorial intern, will join our pulpit Clergy team as Cantor. Our cantorial search committee was very impressed with Jenna’s thoughtfulness, professionalism and warmth, as well as her beautiful presence on the bimah. Many of us have already enjoyed and been moved by Jenna’s leadership at services, classes, and lifecycles these past two years, and we are excited to welcome her as a full member of our Clergy team.

Jenna grew up in Wixom, Michigan, and was tapped at a young age to help lead services at her home synagogue of Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, MI. Jenna attended the University of Michigan where she studied Anthropology and Judaic Studies. Prior to Central, Jenna interned at Beit Tefilah Yisraeli in Tel Aviv, and worked as Student Cantor at North Country Reform Temple. Jenna has also worked for Central as a B’nei Mitzvah tutor, T’filah leader for K–5 for LCLJ Downtown, and religious school teacher for an uptown sixth grade class. She has already been an integral teacher and leader of so many parts of our community.

As Jenna finishes cantorial school at Hebrew Union College this year, we look forward to her senior recital on Wednesday, April 13 at 10:30 am and her ordination as Cantor on Sunday, May 8—and we will celebrate her upcoming wedding to Connor Pearsall in June this year.

We are fortunate and excited to bring Jenna McMillan into our Central family as a permanent part of the Clergy team. Please join us in welcoming her.
