Alice M. Greenwald
Trustee
Alice M. Greenwald is internationally recognized as a leader in the field of museum practice, with expertise in history, ethnic heritage, and memorial museums. She is the current President and Chief Executive Officer of The National September 11 Memorial & Museum, where she served from 2006 to 2016 as Director of the Memorial Museum/Executive Vice President for Exhibitions, Collections and Education. Previously, she was the Associate Museum Director, Museum Programs, at the United States Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC, from 2001 to 2006, having served for the previous 14 years as an expert advisor to the project.
Alice is currently a member and serves on the Art and State Dinner Committees of The Lotos Club. She also serves on the Advisory Board of the 10HL Dance Company and is a member of the Board of the United Kingdom Holocaust Memorial Foundation.
She received a master’s degree in history of religions from the University of Chicago Divinity School, and a bachelor’s degree with concentrations in English literature and anthropology from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York. Alice considers Central her home, anchor, moral compass, and refuge.
